Outlines the functions of the official boards and commissions of the City of Stamford

general provisions

  • Each of the following boards and commissions shall have 5 members that serve the following terms: 3 years (Planning Board, Zoning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Board of Assessment Appeals, Personnel Commission, Patriotic and Special Events Commission, Health Commission, Parks & Recreation Commission, Water Pollution Control Authority, Municipal Building Board of Appeals, Golf Commission, Social Services Commission, Historic Preservation Advisory Commission, Board of Ethics); 4 years (Police Commission, Fire Commission).
  • The following boards shall also have 3 alternate members
  • The Mayor shall submit each year nominations of members to fill vacancies on any appointive boards and commissions. If, after 90 days, the Board of Representatives fails to approve or reject a nomination, that member will be automatically approved. 
  • If a position has been vacant for over 120 days, the President of the Board of Representatives may nominate, and the Board of Representatives approve, a successor to fill the position.
  • Details the removal process of any appointive board or commission member, to be initiated by the Mayor.
